Official Ceremony Schedule for 17 August 2025 Released to Mark 81st Indonesian Independence Day
The commemoration of Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day is now only days away. The government has released the order of ceremony for the 81st Independence Day commemoration to be held within the secretariats of state institutions, ministries, agencies, regional governments and regional-owned enterprises.
Referring to Circular Letter of the Minister of State Secretary Number B-13/M/S/TU.00.03/08/2026 concerning Guidelines for the Commemoration of the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia in 2026, the details are as follows.
06:45: Ceremonial troops enter the ceremony venue
06:50: Troop Commander prepares the formation
06:52: Ceremony Commander enters the ceremony venue
06:57: Ceremony Inspector enters the ceremony venue
06:58: Report by the Ceremony Officer
06:59: Ceremony Inspector arrives at the ceremony venue
07:00: Salute to the Ceremony Inspector
07:01: Report by the Ceremony Commander
07:03: Hoisting of the Red and White Flag accompanied by the national anthem Indonesia Raya
07:13: Moment of Silence
07:15: Reading of the Pancasila Text
07:16: Reading of the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia
07:19: Reading of the Proclamation Text
07:20 or as adjusted: May be filled with additional events according to the needs of the institution, for example an Honours Award Ceremony or other events (if any)

Schedule for the 81st Independence Day Ceremony at Agencies and Ministries
Officials and employees at the Secretariat of State Institutions, Ministries, Agencies and State-Owned Enterprises at the central level may hold the 81st Independence Day ceremony offline at their respective offices starting at 07:00 Western Indonesia Time.
Officials and employees at regional government agencies and regional-owned enterprises shall hold the ceremony offline with the following provisions:
The ceremony is held at a location determined by the Regional Head or the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), starting at 07:00 local time;
Representative offices and agencies located in the regions shall join the ceremony held by the respective Provincial, Regency or City Government.
- Regional Heads and Forkopimda are encouraged to provide big screen media at a location that can accommodate a large number of participants so that the public can watch the live broadcast of the Commemoration of the Seconds of the Proclamation of Indonesian Independence and the Lowering of the National Red and White Flag Ceremony together.
Is 17 August 2026 a Public Holiday?
Based on the Joint Decree of the Three Ministers concerning National Holidays and Collective Leave for 2026, 17 August 2026, which coincides with the 81st Anniversary of Indonesian Independence, is designated as a national holiday. There will be a long weekend because the Independence Day holiday falls close to the weekend. The schedule is as follows.
Saturday, 15 August 2026: Weekend holiday
Sunday, 16 August 2026: Weekend holiday
Monday, 17 August 2026: Independence Day holiday
There is no collective leave in conjunction with the commemoration of the 81st Anniversary of Indonesian Independence.
