Official! Central and Regional Civil Servants to WFH Every Friday
The government has officially announced the implementation of work from anywhere (WFA) once a week for civil servants (ASN), specifically on Fridays, to anticipate the ripple effects of the conflict in the Middle East, which is impacting global energy price volatility. Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto stated that this policy is a government anticipatory step included in the national work culture transformation programme that upholds the principles of efficiency and modernity. “Implementation of WFH for ASN in central and regional offices for one working day every Friday,” said Airlangga during an online press conference on Tuesday evening (31/3/2026). He added that this policy will be regulated in detail in a circular from the Minister of State Apparatus Utilization and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB). The policy is accompanied by a 50% restriction on the use of official vehicles. “Through the circular from the Minister of PANRB, it regulates the promotion of digital transformation, mobility efficiency including a 50% restriction on official vehicles and encouragement of public transport,” he explained. He noted that this policy will apply starting from 1 April 2026.
