Officers temporarily implement contraflow on Japek Toll Road to address congestion

Karawang (ANTARA) - Traffic flow on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road section was quite dense during Eid, leading traffic officers to implement contraflow traffic engineering throughout Saturday afternoon until evening. Vice President Corporate Secretary & Legal of PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol, Ria Marlinda Paallo, stated in Karawang, West Java, on Saturday that the contraflow traffic engineering was applied at the discretion of the police. PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol (JTT) initially implemented contraflow from KM 55 to KM 65 towards Cikampek on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road at 11:05 WIB. This traffic engineering was applied following the high volume of vehicles passing through that toll road section. Previously, contraflow traffic engineering had been applied situationally to alleviate vehicle density heading towards East Trans Java. In the latest scheme, contraflow was applied from KM 47 to KM 55 towards Cikampek on one lane, followed by contraflow from KM 55 to KM 70 towards Cikampek on two lanes. Then, as the vehicle density on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road was resolved, the contraflow traffic engineering was halted at 18:02 WIB. According to Ria Marlinda, traffic in both directions is now monitored to be normal again. JTT advised all Trans Java toll road users to continue prioritising road safety by preparing their physical condition and vehicles before travelling. Toll road users are also expected to ensure sufficient electronic money balances, follow instructions from on-site officers, and comply with applicable traffic signs. In addition, road users are urged to anticipate the potential for rain in several areas by maintaining safe distances between vehicles, ensuring vehicles are in prime condition, and adjusting vehicle speeds to road conditions,” said Ria.
