Officers implement contraflow to address congestion on Jakarta-Cikampek toll road
Karawang — Toll road officers have begun implementing contraflow traffic engineering on the Jakarta-Cikampek expressway to maintain smooth traffic flow during the Eid al-Fitr holiday exodus period in 1447 Hijriah.
Ria Marlinda Paallo, Vice President Corporate Secretary & Legal of PT JTT, stated in Karawang, West Java on Tuesday that the contraflow traffic scheme has been implemented at the discretion of police authorities.
The contraflow was implemented from kilometre 55 to kilometre 70 in the Cikampek direction of the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road at 20:43 WIB.
“Currently, traffic volume is monitored to be increasing, so we continue to urge Trans Java toll road users to prioritise safety and prepare themselves before entering the toll road journey,” she said.
In anticipation of increased traffic volume during the Eid al-Fitr exodus period, PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol (JTT) has supported local one-way traffic engineering from kilometre 70 of the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road section through to kilometre 263 of the Pejagan-Pemalang toll road section, beginning on Tuesday at 15:18 WIB at police discretion.
JTT has undertaken various operational preparations across the Trans Java toll route to support the smooth implementation of one-way traffic engineering. These preparations include the placement of signage and traffic cones to support the traffic management scheme, positioning of traffic service officers and security personnel at strategic points, and optimisation of toll gate capacity through booth staffing arrangements.
In addition, JTT has conducted intensive coordination with police regarding the opening and closing of access points, and has ensured the readiness of tow trucks, ambulances, and round-the-clock toll road patrols to maintain the security and comfort of road users.
Jasamarga has confirmed the readiness of Rest and Service Areas (TIP), including capacity management through situational opening and closing procedures to prevent vehicle congestion within rest areas.
