Officer's house robbed

JAKARTA: A police officer's gun and valuables were stolen when his house was broken into in the early hours of Monday.

The police report identifies the officer as Second Insp. Ramelan, who is the head of the logistics unit at the Bekasi Police station.

Nobody was home when the robbery took place at Jl. Manunggal 17 in Cipayung, East Jakarta.

Police suspect the robbers entered the house through a window. The 43-year-old officer realized he had been robbed when he returned home at 2 a.m.

Ramelan speculated that the perpetrators were familiar with his house and knew exactly where he kept his valuables.

The stolen items were his Smith and Wesson Colt pistol, a Sony Video Compact Disc player, a typewriter and a 10-gram gold bracelet. -- JP
