Officers distribute masks and remind tourists to adhere to Krakatau safety zones

Following patrols, a joint team continued their service and educational activities for tourists at Canti Pier, South Lampung.

The joint team distributed masks to tourists while simultaneously reminding the public to comply with safety zone boundaries when conducting activities around the Anak Krakatau (GAK) area in South Lampung Regency, Lampung. This activity was carried out by the Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA), the South Lampung Police Marine Police Unit, and the Lampung Regional Police Marine Police Directorate as part of efforts to prevent accidents and protect public safety.

Aiptu Welly F from the South Lampung Police Marine Police Unit in Kalianda stated on Sunday that after patrolling the waters of Anak Krakatau, officers distributed masks to several tourists from Jakarta who were preparing for trips to the Krakatau area.

“After the patrol, the team continued their service and education activities for tourists at Canti Pier. In addition to distributing masks, we also provided education regarding safety and the safety zone boundaries that tourists must adhere to while in the waters surrounding Anak Krakatau,” he said.

“We urge tourists to always prioritise safety, avoid entering prohibited zones, and comply with the established safety limits. Please also follow the instructions of officers while in the waters,” Warlly added.

According to him, compliance with safety zone boundaries is crucial given that the activity of Anak Krakatau remains a point of concern, meaning the public and tourists must prioritise safety during their travels.

He noted that the installation of such information is expected to increase tourist vigilance and serve as a reminder that all activities in the waters must follow applicable safety regulations.

Officers also called upon tourism managers, ship captains, and the local community to work together to ensure tourists do not enter prohibited areas and to immediately follow officer instructions should there be any changes in the conditions around Anak Krakatau.
