Cawang City Park in East Jakarta has become the subject of renewed concern following reports of suspected indecent activities at the location. Officers discovered four men allegedly engaged in such activities at the site.

“LGBT indecent activities occurred with four individuals on Friday at 1:00 am at the location of the East Jakarta City Forest,” said Iwan Sulaiman, Forest Park Supervisor of the East Jakarta Sub-district Office, to detikcom at Cawang City Park on Saturday (28 February 2026).

The suspicion of indecent conduct was reinforced by the discovery of several items at the location. Officers found contraceptive devices, lubricants, and sexual enhancement supplements within Cawang City Park.

“Yes, that is correct (officers did discover items indicative of indecent activities). We found them—two park maintenance staff from Cawang City Park discovered contraceptive devices, tissues, and condoms,” Iwan explained.

“We sweep this area regularly every day with our maintenance team at Cawang City Forest. We have repeatedly found contraceptive devices from LGBT activities at Cawang City Park,” he added.

To follow up on these findings, Iwan stated that his office immediately undertook tree trimming of dense vegetation and sealed gaps that could serve as entry points for perpetrators into the park. In addition, floodlights were installed to improve lighting at the location.

“The East Jakarta Parks Sub-district Office responded swiftly to address and follow up on the entry of LGBT elements into Cawang City Forest. Subsequently, the East Jakarta Parks Sub-district Office team immediately followed up by concreting the access road used by these individuals,” Iwan said.

“Concreting, followed by repair of damaged fencing by the SAP team of the East Jakarta Parks Sub-district Office. Subsequently, trimming by the Sub-district team and trimming of denser trees by the East Jakarta City Forest team,” he continued.

The suspected perpetrators allegedly entered the park through a gap between the park fence and a wall during nighttime hours. This gap has now been sealed.

The gap used as an access point by perpetrators during nighttime is located near the underpass of the Cawang-Grogol Toll Road, DI Pandjaitan Street, East Jakarta. The gap is a final point of the park boundary fence with the footpath.

The gap measures less than one metre in width. At the bottom of the gap were several large stones, allegedly commonly used as footholds by perpetrators to squeeze into Cawang City Park.

The gap has now been sealed with concrete. The concrete fully closes the gap. Currently, the concrete is still supported using plywood.
