Officer shot dead in Poso
POSO, Central Sulawesi: A police officer was shot and killed on Wednesday evening by an unidentified assailant, raising tension in this religiously divided city.
Witnesses said First Insp. Agus Sulaiman was preparing to break the fast at home when a man on a motorcycle fired several shots into the home, hitting Agus in the head.
The officer died on his way to the hospital. Police are investigating the case.
On Oct. 3, a resident of Poso Pesisir, Milton Tado'a, was shot and killed while riding a motorcycle. Poso was the scene of fierce sectarian violence in 2000, leaving some 2,000 Muslims and Christians dead. -- JP
