Offered iPhone Shipment from US by Blueray, Raffi Ahmad's Startling Response

Jakarta – Presidential Special Envoy for Youth and Arts Worker Development, Raffi Ahmad, has asserted that he has no connection to the alleged corruption case within the Directorate General of Customs and Excise at the Ministry of Finance. He admitted that he used to take it easy in the face of various issues that dragged his name into the matter. However, this time he felt the need to provide public clarification because it concerns the integrity of the position he now holds. ‘I was relaxed about it because previously I was not, or had not been, entrusted as a presidential special envoy. Now, because I have this mandate, I feel the need to straighten out these untruths as thoroughly as possible,’ he said on Thursday, 11 June 2026. Raffi then revealed the origin of his meeting with Blueray Cargo. According to him, the meeting occurred in 2023 when he was in the United States to take part in a marathon event in Chicago with several fellow artists. After the event, Raffi took the time to visit a number of businesses owned by Indonesian citizens in New York. In that area, he claimed he briefly met some Blueray Cargo employees and took a photo together. From that brief encounter, Raffi says a light conversation ensued. One of the company’s employees is said to have offered shipping services for various electronic products from the United States to Indonesia. ‘He introduced himself, but I did not know him. I did not know him, then they said, ’Brother Raffi, our company here, Blue Ray, we can send, we can send anything, whether it’s a mobile phone, a laptop, an iPad, this or that.’ ‘Oh yes, there is the latest mobile phone, could it be sent later?’ Raffi said, mimicking the Blueray Cargo employee. However, Raffi stressed that he was not interested in the offer and immediately refused it on the spot. ‘Well, that’s not likely, is it?’ I said, ‘Oh, no thanks,’ he stated. According to Raffi, after that moment there was never any further communication between himself and Blueray Cargo. He also denied ever making any transactions or exchanging telephone numbers with the company. ‘There was no further communication. I mean, I wouldn’t possibly give my phone number to someone I’ve just met… well, it could happen, but as far as I remember, there wasn’t any. Yes,’ he said.
