Of 11 Million Deactivated BPJS PBI Participants, 2.1 Million Have Been Reactivated
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf stated that out of 11 million BPJS Kesehatan participants in the Penerima Bantuan Iuran (PBI) segment, 2.1 million have been reactivated, or activated again.
“Out of more than 11 million that we deactivated, as of today, there are 2.1 million beneficiaries who have carried out reactivation,” said Saifullah at the Ministry of Cooperatives office in South Jakarta on Monday (13/4/2026).
He explained that not all reactivated participants return to the PBI segment; some have shifted to independent participants.
Subsequently, around 300,000 participants have rejoined the PBI Jaminan Kesehatan (PBI-JK) scheme.
In the reactivation process, the Ministry of Social Affairs involves a network of village data operators to accelerate verification and data correction for beneficiaries.
Currently, more than 69,000 village data operators have been connected to the Ministry’s system.
“With these village data operators, we can obtain more accurate information, and if anyone carries out reactivation, we can serve them more quickly,” he stated.
For PBI participants suffering from chronic or catastrophic illnesses, it is assured that they can resume treatment.
“Now they are automatically active participants. So, for those with catastrophic illnesses, they have all become active participants, while we evaluate monthly,” he added.
“I thank the beneficiaries who have realised and moved to the independent segment. This is something extraordinary; we truly appreciate and respect it,” he said.
