Odd-Even System in Jakarta Suspended for Labour Day 2026
On the commemoration of Labour Day 2026, which falls on Friday (1/5/2026), there will be no odd-even system in Jakarta. Referring to the provisions on red dates in the Joint Decree (SKB) of 3 Ministers, signed by the Minister of Religious Affairs, Minister of Manpower, and Minister of State Apparatus Utilization and Bureaucratic Reform, International Labour Day is a national holiday. βThe odd-even system does not apply on 1 May. All vehicles can pass as usual,β stated the official DKI Transportation Agency account, quoted on Thursday (30/4/2026). This rule is also in line with the Governor of DKI Jakarta Regulation Number 88 of 2019. Article 3 paragraph (3) states that the odd-even system does not apply on Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays designated by the government. Thus, vehicles with odd and even number plates can still pass through all road sections usually affected by the policy without restrictions on Friday (1/5/2026). Several entrances to the Monas area will be opened from 05:30 WIB to provide access to participants. President of the All-Indonesian Confederation of Trade Unions (KSPSI), who is also the May Day organising committee, Andi Gani Nena Wea, said that President Prabowo Subianto is confirmed to attend the commemoration. Although suspended on holidays, the odd-even policy will continue to be enforced normally on the following working days. For information, there are 25 roads in Jakarta that have been the points of odd-even implementation.
