Odd-Even Scheme Suspended in Jakarta from Today Until 25 March
Jakarta’s Odd-Even (Ganjil Genap) traffic restriction scheme has been suspended during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 H holiday period, from Wednesday 18 March to Wednesday 25 March.
“During the holiday period, the Odd-Even scheme is suspended. From 18 to 25 (the scheme is lifted),” said Jakarta Metro Police Chief Asep Edi Suheri during an inspection of homebound traffic at Pulo Gebang Terminal in East Jakarta on Saturday, 14 March.
The Jakarta Metro Police has prepared thousands of personnel to secure the holiday travel surge and Eid al-Fitr celebrations. “The security plan from the Jakarta Metro Police covers 1,647 security locations across the region,” he stated.
Of these locations, there are 95 security posts consisting of 68 security posts (pospam), 22 service posts, and 5 integrated posts. Additionally, 9 traffic monitoring posts have been established along the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road.
Security operations will focus on 83 economic centres and 11 transportation hubs, comprising 4 terminals, 4 railway stations, 2 airports, and 1 port.
For security during the evening takbiran and Eid al-Fitr celebrations, police have also arranged security at 13 takbiran event locations and 133 Eid prayer and zakat distribution sites.
Tourist attractions are also a focus, with 68 tourist sites under surveillance, including Taman Impian Jaya Ancol, Ragunan Zoo, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, and tourist areas in Bekasi, Depok, and the Thousand Islands.
In total, 6,812 combined personnel will be deployed for this operation. This comprises 5,092 police personnel, 416 military personnel from the Jakarta Military Command (Kodam Jaya) and various military sub-commands (Kodim), 1,088 personnel from local government and related agencies, and 216 personnel from community organisations.
