Odd-Even Plate Policy in Jakarta Suspended Tomorrow, 16 June

Residents planning to travel in Jakarta tomorrow should be aware of the latest traffic policy update, as Tuesday, 16 June, is a national holiday marking the Islamic New Year 1 Muharam 1448 Hijriah. In connection with the public holiday, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, through its Transportation Agency (Dishub), has suspended the odd-even licence plate system on several major roads in the capital.

In an official statement posted on its Instagram account on Monday (15/6/2026), Dishub DKI Jakarta announced that the odd-even traffic restriction would not be enforced on Tuesday, 16 June 2026. The agency explained that the suspension is due to the national holiday, allowing both odd- and even-numbered plate vehicles to travel freely on roads normally subject to the restriction.

“In connection with the Islamic New Year 1 Muharam 1448 Hijriah holiday on 16 June 2026, the implementation of the odd-even system on various roads in Jakarta is hereby SUSPENDED,” Dishub DKI Jakarta stated in its post.

The suspension is based on DKI Jakarta Governor Regulation Number 88 of 2019, Article 3, paragraph (3), which stipulates that the odd-even traffic restriction does not apply on Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays established by presidential decree. The policy also references the Joint Decree of the Minister of Religious Affairs, Minister of Manpower, and Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform regarding the 2026 National Holidays and Collective Leave.

Despite the lifting of the odd-even rule, Dishub DKI Jakarta reminded road users to always prioritise safety. Motorists are urged to obey traffic signs, maintain order on the roads, and ensure the safety of themselves and others during the holiday period.
