ODC Task Force Successfully Neutralises One KKB Member in Timika
Timika (ANTARA) - The Cartenz 2026 Peace Operation Task Force has successfully arrested TJ alias K alias AW, a member of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB), in Timika. TJ was captured in SP 2, Timika City, Mimika Baru District, Mimika Regency, Central Papua, on Sunday. The Head of the Cartenz 2026 Peace Operation, Inspector General of Police Faizal Ramadhani, emphasised that this enforcement action represents the apparatus’s commitment to upholding the law against perpetrators of armed violence. The Head of the Public Relations Task Force for the Cartenz 2026 Peace Operation, Commissioner of Police Yusuf Sutejo, stated that TJ was on the Most Wanted List based on Letter Number: DPO/S-34/01/II/2026/Reskrim. The suspect was involved in the shooting of a civilian named Ahmad Gunawan, which occurred on 12 February 2026 at the Ilu Health Centre junction in Puncak Jaya Regency, resulting in the victim’s death. Yusuf explained that the enforcement was carried out through a measured process based on the results of intensive field monitoring. “The arrest was made after the team conducted monitoring and successfully identified the suspect’s location in the SP 2 Timika area,” he said. When about to be secured, the suspect attempted to resist the officers and tried to flee towards the surrounding forest. He added that after being successfully secured, the suspect was immediately taken to Bhayangkara Hospital in Timika for medical treatment before undergoing further examination and investigation by the investigators. The Deputy Head of the Cartenz 2026 Peace Operation, Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, urged the public to remain calm and not to be easily influenced by unverified information. “We invite all of society to remain calm and support the apparatus by providing accurate information. The role of the community is very important in maintaining security and public order in a safe and conducive situation,” he said. The Cartenz 2026 Peace Operation Task Force reaffirmed its commitment to continue enforcing the law firmly, measurably, and professionally against every perpetrator of armed violence.
