Ocha, Participant in MPR Quiz Competition, Receives Public Speaking Tips from Gibran

The SMAN 1 Pontianak team, participants in the Four Pillars of the MPR Quiz Competition, met with Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. One participant, Josepha Alexandra alias Ocha, revealed that she received several pieces of advice from Gibran. Citing Detik, the meeting was held behind closed doors at the Vice Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (13/5). After meeting with Gibran for one hour, Ocha said that she and her teammates were proud to receive support from the Vice President. “Of course, I feel very happy to be invited by the Vice President of Indonesia, and this becomes a hope and encouragement for us to keep moving forward and developing,” said Ocha. Ocha recounted that she travelled to Jakarta since Tuesday (12/5) at 17:00 WIB. She mentioned that Gibran motivated the SMAN 1 Pontianak team to continue achieving excellence. “During the meeting, we were given motivation by the Vice President to keep studying and excelling,” she said. In addition to the advice, Ocha said she also received input from Gibran on how to debate effectively. “We were given motivation and tips and tricks on how to do public speaking or debate in public,” Ocha added. Ocha’s name had previously captured public attention after she boldly corrected the quiz judges’ decision, which she felt was inaccurate. In a circulating video viewed on Monday (11/5), the judges gave different scores for the same answer from participants. In the competition, Group C from SMAN 1 Pontianak received a minus five score for an answer related to the BPK member selection process. However, a similar answer given by Group B from SMAN 1 Sambas was awarded 10 points by the same judge, namely the Head of the Assessment Bureau of the MPR RI Secretariat General, Dyastasita. Participants from Group C protested, feeling their answer was the same. However, the judge stated that Group C’s answer did not clearly mention the Regional Representative Council (DPD). The MPR has deactivated the quiz judges. The MPR will comprehensively evaluate the event. The MPR will also rerun the quiz competition.
