Observing the formation of the Indonesian aircraft carrier escorted by two KRI and TNI AL aircraft
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The aircraft carrier ITS Giuseppe Garibaldi has entered the Bangka waters, within the Indonesian Archipelagic Sea Lanes (ALKI) I, escorted by two Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) warships.
From ANTARA photographic monitoring taken in the Bangka sea on Thursday, the Garibaldi was seen in the centre position, flanked by KRI Brawijaya-320 on the left and KRI Prabu Siliwangi-321 on the right.
The two escort ships for the Giuseppe Garibaldi were flying the Merah Putih (Indonesian flag) at their masts, while the Giuseppe Garibaldi continued to fly the Italian flag.
This is because the ship was manufactured by the Italian shipbuilding company, Fincantier. The vessel has also been in service with the Italian Navy for decades.
On the aircraft carrier’s flight deck, numerous personnel from both the Indonesian Navy and the Italian Navy could be seen lined up.
In addition to the warship escort, the aircraft carrier is also being shadowed by two aircraft from the Navy Aviation Corps (Puspenerbal), specifically the CN-235 and NC-212.
The aircraft carrier is scheduled to arrive at the Tanjung Priok pier, North Jakarta, on Friday (18/9) and will be received directly by high-ranking officials from the Indonesian National Armed Forces and the Indonesian Ministry of Defence.
