Observers say Ramadhan Safari is a tangible manifestation of Polri's transformation
Jakarta (ANTARA) — Senior political observer Boni Hargens assesses that the Polri’s Ramadhan Safari and Bakti Sosial 2026 programme are tangible forms of transformation of the Indonesian National Police (Polri). During Ramadan 2026, under the leadership of Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Polri is presented as a humane, professional institution fully committed to supporting government programmes and serving the public.
‘Polri has proven itself as an indispensable strategic partner in implementing various government priority programmes, from food security to the control of basic commodities prices which directly impact the daily lives of ordinary people,’ Boni said in a statement released in Jakarta on Saturday.
The Ramadhan Safari and Polri’s Bakti Sosial 2026 is seen as one of the most concrete expressions of the police’s commitment to being part of the broader Indonesian community.
He noted that thousands of police personnel have visited orphanages, nursing homes, and poor families across Indonesia, bringing food packages, financial assistance, and a sense of unity that strengthens ties between the police and the public.
Meanwhile, the Police Chief and top Polri leadership have also undertaken safaris to various mosques, prayer houses and pesantrens to foster goodwill, listen to public aspirations, and pray together for the safety of the Indonesian nation.
Moreover, he said Polri plays a role in food security, price control, and maintaining a conducive Ramadan atmosphere. As a strategic partner of the government, Polri is seen not only as a law-enforcement body but also as a facilitator of social development that participates in realising Indonesia’s aspirations of safety, peace and prosperity.
Boni said Polri works closely with ministries and government agencies to ensure a conducive atmosphere during the holy month. The collaboration includes with ministries, state institutions, civil society organisations, and religious communities across Indonesia. He revealed that the coordination is conducted intensively to ensure Muslim worship is conducted safely, orderly, and with full devotion, without major security disturbances.
It was stated that Polri’s hard work and dedication in supporting government programmes and serving the public during Ramadan also received extraordinary positive responses from various quarters. He argued that various recognitions flowed from state officials, religious figures, and grassroots communities who directly felt the benefits of Polri’s presence in their daily lives.
Therefore, he continued, the Polri Ramadhan 2026 is a tangible reflection of Polri that has transformed from a feared institution to one that is loved, and from a hard-line law enforcement body to a sincere public service. On the other hand, he assessed that the institutional transformation carried out by Polri under Chief of Police Listyo Sigit Prabowo has produced measurable and directly felt impacts for the public. In four years, he disclosed, cases of violence have fallen by up to 80 per cent and abuses of power by 83 per cent, which is an extraordinary reflection of Polri’s reform commitment. ‘The significant reductions in various violations reflect the success of internal reform that is consistent and bold,’ Boni stated.
