Jakarta (ANTARA) - Social observer Dewi Rahmawati Nur Aulia believes that the success of implementing Government Regulation (PP) Tunas depends not only on the strength of the regulation but also on the role of the family as the primary foundation for building children’s morals.

According to Dewi, sociologically, regulations built by the government, including Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 on the Protection and Governance of Electronic Systems in Child Protection (PP Tunas), essentially serve only as a supporting framework.

“Sociologically, various regulations built, one of which is like PP Tunas, are only a supporting framework. Morals do not grow from policy papers, but from the formation of a comprehensive basic ecosystem starting from the family to the state,” said Dewi when contacted in Jakarta on Sunday.

“Its implementation will succeed if there is synergy between state regulations and family resilience,” she added.

Dewi also warned that without support from a healthy and adaptive family environment, child protection policies risk not achieving optimal goals.

Therefore, she encourages a more comprehensive approach in implementing PP Tunas by involving various elements, from family, community, to state, to create a conducive ecosystem for children’s growth and development.

Previously, the Minister of Communication and Digital (Menkomdigi) Meutya Hafid emphasised that the Indonesian government will not compromise with digital platforms that do not comply with the mandate to protect children in the digital space in line with PP Tunas.

In Ministerial Regulation of Komdigi Number 9 of 2026 as the implementing regulation of PP Tunas, it is explained that several sanctions apply to platforms that do not comply with the rules, including administrative sanctions in the form of warning letters, temporary access suspension, to access termination.
