Observer: Strengthen Law Enforcement Synergy to Support Prabowo's Anti-Corruption Commitment
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Arfianto Purbolaksono, a public policy analyst at The Indonesian Institute (TII), has called for strengthened synergy among law enforcement agencies to support the government’s commitment to accelerating corruption eradication through coordinated, professional and consistent law enforcement.
According to Arfianto, President Prabowo Subianto’s commitment to eradicating corruption must be translated into solid cooperation between the National Police (Polri), the Attorney General’s Office and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) so that cases can be handled more effectively.
“The President’s commitment must be translated into concrete institutional work. Law enforcement agencies must not operate in silos. Inter-agency synergy is the primary requirement for corruption eradication to be faster, more effective and to serve as a deterrent,” Arfianto said when contacted by ANTARA in Jakarta on Wednesday.
In his view, corruption eradication should not focus solely on enforcement but also requires a governance framework for law enforcement capable of addressing the complexity of cases, ranging from fund flows and administrative manipulation to abuse of authority and interconnected networks of power.
He said inter-agency synergy is needed to avoid overlapping mandates, speed up information exchange, strengthen the evidentiary process and optimise the recovery of state losses.
Arfianto noted that weak coordination has frequently been an obstacle in handling corruption cases, hence more systematic steps are needed to reinforce cooperation.
He proposed strengthening synergy through the harmonisation of working procedures, the establishment of joint teams to handle strategic cases, secure data exchange and joint capacity building across agencies.
According to him, such an approach would make law enforcement not merely reactive but also capable of operating sustainably in preventing and eradicating corruption.
Arfianto said the success of corruption eradication will be one of the important indicators of the government’s credibility in the eyes of the public.
“If this synergy is built seriously, then corruption eradication will not only strengthen law enforcement but also increase public trust in the state and the government,” he said.
He stressed that corruption eradication requires firm leadership, effective coordination and integrity across all law enforcement agencies, making inter-agency synergy essential to supporting sustained anti-corruption efforts.
