Observer: Strengthen Law Enforcement Synergy to Support Prabowo's Anti-Corruption Commitment

Public policy analyst from The Indonesian Institute (TII), Arfianto Purbolaksono, is encouraging the strengthening of synergy among law enforcement officers to support the government’s commitment to accelerating the eradication of corruption through coordinated, professional, and consistent law enforcement. According to Arfianto, President Prabowo Subianto’s commitment to eradicating corruption must be translated into solid cooperation between the National Police, the Attorney General’s Office, and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) so that case handling can proceed more effectively. “The President’s commitment must be translated into concrete institutional work. Law enforcement officers cannot work in silos. Inter-agency synergy is the main prerequisite for faster, more effective corruption eradication that provides a deterrent effect,” Arfianto said when confirmed by ANTARA in Jakarta on Wednesday. He assessed that eradicating corruption does not only focus on prosecution but also requires law enforcement governance capable of facing the complexity of cases, ranging from fund flows, administrative manipulation, and abuse of authority to interconnected power networks. According to him, synergy among law enforcement agencies is necessary to avoid overlapping authority, accelerate information exchange, strengthen case evidence, and optimise the recovery of state losses. Arfianto stated that weak coordination has often been an obstacle in handling corruption cases, so more systematic steps are needed to strengthen cooperation. He proposed strengthening synergy through the standardisation of work procedures, the formation of joint teams to handle strategic cases, secure data exchange, and joint capacity building between agencies. According to him, this approach will make law enforcement not only reactive but also capable of operating sustainably in preventing and eradicating corruption. Arfianto conveyed that the success of corruption eradication will be an important indicator of the government’s credibility in the public eye. “If this synergy is built seriously, then corruption eradication will not only strengthen law enforcement but also increase public trust in the state and government,” he said. He emphasised that eradicating corruption requires firm leadership, effective coordination, and the integrity of all law enforcement officers, making inter-agency synergy a necessity to support sustainable anti-corruption efforts.
