Observer: National Police Chief's Visit Prioritises Stability Over Sectoral Ego

Senior political observer Boni Hargens has stated that the visit by National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to the Attorney General’s Office and the Indonesian Military (TNI) Headquarters represents a move to prioritise national stability above sectoral ego. Hargens said the entire Bhayangkara corps is committed to maintaining the integrity of the legal and national security ecosystem as a whole. He argued that the event reflects the complexity of inter-agency governance in Indonesia, where jurisdictional boundaries can become flashpoints, particularly in handling large-scale corruption cases. According to him, the naming of a former senior official of the Attorney General’s Office as a suspect by the Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps served as a real test of professionalism and independence for both institutions. On one hand, law enforcement must be impartial; on the other, inter-agency coordination and communication remain essential to preserve overall governmental cohesion. Hargens said the National Police Chief’s visit proves that mature leadership can bridge these two demands simultaneously.
