Observer: KPK Involvement in Febrie Adriansyah Case Signals Prabowo's Seriousness in Eradicating Corruption
Jakarta, VIVA – Political observer Hendri Satrio has assessed that the involvement of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in the detention of former Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah is a positive signal from the administration of President Prabowo Subianto in the fight against corruption.
Hensa said what the public needs to pay attention to is not merely the individual facing legal proceedings, but the effort to involve other law enforcement institutions in handling the case.
“This is a good step. When the KPK is brought in, it sends a message that the Prabowo administration wants the corruption eradication process to run more openly, more transparently, and not to rely solely on a single institution,” Hensa said in a statement on Saturday, 25 July 2026.
According to him, the KPK’s involvement shows Prabowo’s desire to build coordination between law enforcement agencies.
This step could also strengthen public trust in the ongoing legal process.
“The President certainly does not need to dictate who is investigated, who is detained, or how the legal construction is framed. However, the President must create an atmosphere in which law enforcers are brave enough to work. The KPK’s involvement can be read as a signal that Prabowo is giving room for more serious law enforcement,” he said.
He believes that eradicating corruption requires cooperation between the KPK, the Attorney General’s Office, the National Police (Polri), and other state institutions. Therefore, coordination in handling a case should be viewed as a positive development, as long as it is carried out in accordance with the rules and the respective authority of each institution.
“We are not talking about Febrie personally. The focus is not on the person. The focus is on how the state handles a corruption case by involving institutions that have the authority and competence,” he said.
According to Hensa, this step could also serve as an answer to public doubts about the Prabowo administration’s commitment to eradicating corruption.
He said a president’s seriousness in fighting corruption is judged not only by speeches or political statements, but also by the courage to open space for law enforcement institutions to monitor one another and work together.
“If Prabowo is consistent with this pattern, involving the KPK and ensuring the legal process runs without intervention, then I think Prabowo is indeed showing himself to be an anti-corruption champion,” Hensa said.
