Jakarta (ANTARA) - Political observer Hendri Satrio, popularly known as Hensa, hopes that the new management of the Indonesian Sharia Economic Community (MES) for the 1447-1452 Hijriah period, to be inaugurated on Sunday (24/5), will be able to empower the Ummah.

“The presence of prominent figures such as Rosan Roeslani, Ferry Juliantono, and Boy Rafli Amar within the MES management certainly brings fresh air to the national economic climate. However, the spearhead must be how this new management can empower the Ummah economically,” he stated in Jakarta on Saturday.

According to him, the Sharia economic ecosystem in Indonesia possesses immense potential and requires mature execution. He expressed his hope that the incoming officials would develop strategic programmes that have a direct impact on the community.

“The challenge now is not merely the ceremonial inauguration, but how the strategic work programmes for the next five years can be grounded and their impact directly felt by the wider public, especially MSME players,” he said.

Furthermore, he commented on President Prabowo Subianto’s planned attendance at the MES inauguration on Sunday (24/5). He noted that the President’s presence could signal that the administration is beginning to develop the Sharia economy, starting with the MES.

“It remains to be seen how the MES, under the command of Mr Rosan, can translate this political support into real collaboration, in line with the vision of strengthening the national Sharia economic ecosystem,” he added.

Previously, the VII National Congress (Munas) of MES in January 2026 appointed the Minister of Investment and Downstreaming, as well as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Danantara Indonesia, Rosan Roeslani, as General Chair. Meanwhile, the Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs, Ferry Juliantono, was appointed as the Daily Chair of MES.
