Objective reporting

Objective reporting

From Neraca

It is fair to say that the national press has presented objective reports on the general election process. Golkar has made no comment on the reports that were supposed to have sided with the party. Obviously reports on the general election were framed carefully so that the dominant party was happy.

Both Golkar and the United Development Party (PPP) were happy with the press for maintaining objectivity. As a reader, I am satisfied with the coverage of the election activities. But I still feel the press has not fully met our curiosity. This leads me to think that objective reporting does not necessarily mean balanced reporting. The PPP might have made the statement based on political considerations. I believe the PPP also wants the truth.
