Objective appraisal is needed

JAKARTA (JP): A city administration official said on Friday
that all unit heads in city administration must make objective
job appraisals on their subordinates in order to give the public
better services.

Bambang Soengkono, an assistant to the city secretary,
revealed that there are many managers at city hall who gave good
appraisal of their subordinates because they (the subordinates)
bribed them.

He told Antara on Friday that such practices did not directly
harm any party. "But it will hamper the city's program to improve
its service to the public because they (the officials in
question) have been accustomed to accepting bribes," he said..

Bambang stressed that such corrupt officials would be sternly
dealt with. (mas)
