Police authorities have handled the discovery of an object suspected to be an improvised bomb near the former citric acid factory building, known as the Engsun Building, on Jalan Taman Harapan, Tawang District, Tasikmalaya City. The object has now been destroyed.

According to reports, the object was discovered on Thursday (10/09/202<0xE2><0x80><0x89>6). Since its discovery, the Tasikmalaya City Police have decided to sterilise the area without touching the object resembling an improvised bomb.

Authorities waited for the arrival of the Bomb Disposal Team (Jibom) from the West Java Regional Police Brimob. At approximately 20:00 WIB, the West Java Regional Police Gegana team arrived and immediately commenced their duties. An officer wearing specialised bomb disposal gear was seen approaching the location of the object that had caused the commotion.

After approximately one hour, at around 21:00 WIB, a single explosion was heard. About an hour later, the bomb disposal operation was concluded.

The Commander of the Gegana Detachment of Satbrimob West Java Regional Police, Commissioner Iyus Ali Yusup, explained that they did not find any explosive materials within the object. However, he admitted that its appearance was similar to an improvised bomb.

“We received orders from the Regional Police Chief through the Brimob Detachment Commander to check for the presence of a suspected bomb. We arrived here and conducted an intervention using X-ray technology,” said Iyus.

“The X-ray results showed that the object did indeed contain elements of a bomb circuit, but there were no explosives, initiators, or detonators present,” Iyus added.
