KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): New Zealanders dominated an annual
Malaysian "towerthon" race Sunday, with world mountain running
champion Jonathan Wyatt clinching the title for the third year in
a row.
Wyatt, 29, the world mountain running champion in 1998 and
2000, clocked 10 minutes, 32.84 seconds to win the Telekom
Malaysia International Towerthon race to scale the Kuala Lumpur
telecommunications tower.
New Zealander Melissa P.Moon also defended her women's title,
winning the race in 13:14.21s, breaking her own record of 13:24
minutes set last year.
The race started with an 800-meter run uphill to the tower,
followed by a climb up 2,058 steps to finish some 300 meters
above the basement of the tower, Bernama news agency said.
