Nyoman Arnawa Demands Comprehensive Evaluation of Tabanan District Hospital Directorate and Performance
Drug shortages at Tabanan District Hospital (RSUD Tabanan) have dealt a serious blow to healthcare services in this agricultural region. The situation has sparked concern among various parties, including members of the Tabanan District Legislative Assembly (DPRD).
Following a meeting with the executive branch at the DPRD Tabanan building on Wednesday, 11 March 2026, Tabanan DPRD Chairman I Nyoman Arnawa firmly stated that the performance and management of RSUD Tabanan’s directorate must undergo total evaluation.
According to Arnawa, whatever reasons are offered can be heard, but what matters most is how the hospital’s directorate can prepare itself and improve its operations to ensure that services are not neglected as is currently happening.
“Whatever systems exist must be implemented properly. Do not merely follow along one way and then another, paying respect here and there whilst work is left abandoned,” he stressed.
Arnawa also ordered Commission IV of the Tabanan DPRD to meet with RSUD Tabanan officials to discuss the matter. The meeting is expected to find solutions to prevent drug shortages from recurring, including conducting an evaluation of the directorate and the hospital’s performance to date.
The drug shortage at RSUD Tabanan has also prompted a response from the Gerindra Party faction at the Tabanan DPRD. They expressed concern over the situation.
I Wayan Wiryadana, secretary of the Gerindra Party faction at the Tabanan DPRD, stated that his party deeply regrets the absence of medicines at RSUD Tabanan.
The Gerindra faction believes the situation should not have occurred, given that RSUD Tabanan is a Type B hospital serving as a referral centre for Type C hospitals across the Tabanan region and surrounding areas.
“This is certainly a matter of concern and deeply regrettable. We are calling on RSUD Tabanan to immediately resolve the problems that have now reached the public,” he said.
He expressed hope that the hospital can provide the best possible service to the community so as to prevent prolonged public anxiety.
