A total of 77 inmates in Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB) have received special remission and special sentence reductions for Nyepi Day 2026. These inmates will have their sentences reduced by periods ranging from 15 days to two months.

“Based on the recapitulation data, 77 inmates received special remission (RK-I) with varying amounts,” stated the Head of the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Corrections (Kakanwil Ditjenpas) for NTB, Anak Agung Gde Krisna, on Wednesday (18/3/2026).

In detail, 14 inmates received a 15-day remission, 57 for one month, and five for one month and 15 days. “One inmate received special remission for two months,” Krisna added.

The inmates receiving the special Nyepi remission were mostly from the Class IIA Kuripan Penitentiary in West Lombok, numbering 63.

Krisna explained that the granting of special remission is a step towards fulfilling the constitutional rights of inmates and those under guidance who have demonstrated positive behavioural changes during their rehabilitation period. It also serves as state appreciation for their obedience in striving for betterment.

“It is hoped that this granting of rights will motivate them to continue improving themselves and earnestly following the rehabilitation programmes,” Krisna remarked.
