Nyepi: Ketapang–Gilimanuk Ferry Services Temporarily Suspended
PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) has temporarily suspended ferry services across the Ketapang, Banyuwangi, to Gilimanuk, Bali route. This policy is implemented to honour Nyepi Day. ASDP Ketapang branch officers closed the port entrance at 5:00 PM WIB on Wednesday (18/3/2026). “Precisely at 5:00 PM WIB today, the crossing from Ketapang Port to Gilimanuk Port is temporarily closed starting today, and will reopen on Friday, 20 March 2026, at 5:00 AM WIB,” said Director General of Land Transportation at the Ministry of Transportation, Aan Suhanan, at Ketapang Port, Banyuwangi. Services from Bali to Java will resume on Friday, 20 March, at 6:00 AM WITA. Aan explained that this adjustment is part of national transport arrangements. The aim is to maintain order and respect the implementation of Catur Brata Penyepian in Bali. “The temporary closure of the crossing from Ketapang to Gilimanuk, including ticket sales this afternoon, is to accelerate the distribution of vehicle transport to Gilimanuk,” said Aan. Field observations show that the main parking area at Ketapang Port has become quieter with vehicles. This condition occurred after the announcement of the temporary closure of crossings between Java and Bali.
