Moscow (ANTARA) - US graphics processor developer Nvidia plans to develop an artificial intelligence (AI) model to rival Chinese AI models, according to a Wall Street Journal report citing several sources. According to the report, Nvidia this week signed a major deal with AI startup Poolside, which was founded in 2023. Under the deal, Nvidia will obtain the rights to use Poolside’s technology as well as recruit most of the company’s engineers. As part of the $6 billion deal (approximately Rp105.9 quadrillion), Nvidia plans to develop one of the world’s most advanced open-source AI models that will compete with Chinese AI models such as DeepSeek and Kimi K3, according to the newspaper. The deal could also increase competition with leading US AI companies, including OpenAI and Anthropic. This is because open-source models are generally cheaper to operate and easier to customise to user needs, the report further stated.
