Nvidia Plans AI Data Centre Investments in South Korea

Nvidia is working with several South Korean technology giants. One of them is the search engine company Naver, with Nvidia announcing an investment of US$1 billion (Rp17.9 trillion).

The investment from Nvidia will be used to build an AI data centre, undertaken together with Brookfield Corp.

Nvidia’s investment will increase the size of the facility to more than three times its current scale. The American technology giant will also contribute AI computing hardware to the data centre, as reported by Tech in Asia, cited on Monday (27/7/2026).

Naver’s data centre project is located at the company’s GAK Sejong campus. The site’s initial capacity is 55 megawatts.

According to the roadmap, the data centre is expected to reach gigawatt scale by 2029. The Sejong campus will subsequently be used for graphics processing unit (GPU) work.

Beyond Naver, Nvidia has also announced a partnership with South Korean telecommunications, chip and energy conglomerate SK Group. This collaboration is to build an AI data centre with a capacity of more than 2 gigawatts.

The first facility from this partnership is likely to open in 2027.

Nvidia also said the scale of the facility matches other South Korean projects, as well as a separate plan with a capacity of up to 3 gigawatts.

Nvidia additionally plans to help SK Hynix design HBM chips in the future. SK Hynix has itself already become a supplier of high-speed memory chips.
