Nvidia CEO Predicts South Korea Will Become a Global Leader in Robotics and AI Factories

Global technology titan Nvidia projects that South Korea is poised to become a global centre of power in the robotics and AI factory sectors. This projection is based on the nation’s position as a global manufacturing leader possessing a complete ecosystem, ranging from the chip and electronics industries to the automotive sector.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang explained this immense potential during his second working visit to South Korea in seven months. He has scheduled strategic meetings with several local technology giants, including Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, Hyundai Motor, LG, and Naver, to deepen collaboration in the fields of semiconductors and physical AI technology.

“Because Korea is the world’s manufacturing hub, we can apply the robotics and physical AI technologies we discover here to industry,” Huang stated, as reported by Reuters.

Huang believes that the integration of artificial intelligence and robotics will be the primary driver of the semiconductor manufacturing industry in the future. Partnerships with South Korean companies are viewed as significant opportunities to develop innovations capable of transforming the global industrial landscape.

“Therefore, we have a great opportunity to partner with semiconductor companies here as well,” Huang continued.

Currently, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix are recorded as supplying approximately 70% of the memory chip requirements to support Nvidia’s artificial intelligence systems. Huang also confirmed that both companies, alongside Micron, have qualified to supply advanced HBM4 memory chips for Nvidia’s latest AI platform, known as Vera Rubin.

“These three vendors are currently in the production stage, and they are all racing to support Vera Rubin,” he asserted.

Beyond manufacturing business interests, Nvidia has concretely begun recruiting personnel for its research and development (R&D) centre located in Seoul. This move reinforces Nvidia’s long-term commitment to establishing South Korea as a strategic partner in the development of AI infrastructure.

“Am I bringing gifts to Korea? I am bringing a lot of business to Korea. I have some surprises,” Huang concluded.
