Nuzulul Qur'an: Prabowo declares corruption must be eliminated as religious teaching
President Prabowo Subianto, speaking at the state-level Nuzulul Qur’an commemoration ceremony for the year 1447 H/2026 M at the State Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday evening (10 March), declared that all corrupt practices must be eliminated, as they constitute a violation of religious teachings.
For the President, corruption and abuse of power represent a serious threat to national progress. Accordingly, Prabowo reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eradicating practices that harm the public and ensuring that state resources are utilised to the maximum for the benefit of society.
“We must indeed eliminate corruption, embezzlement, and all improper and wrongful practices that are forbidden by all religions. This is a religious teaching, and it is also a lesson from history. No nation has succeeded when its government has failed to cleanse itself of corruption. This is a religious and historical principle,” Prabowo stated in his address.
Prabowo subsequently emphasised the importance of protecting national wealth to ensure it is genuinely utilised for public welfare.
“We have been granted tremendous wealth by the Almighty. On this occasion, I reiterate that we must strive hard to eliminate poverty, hunger, and suffering from all our people. We must not allow any of our citizens to be abandoned. We are capable, and we have been given sufficient wealth by the Almighty,” the President said.
Accordingly, Prabowo warned that the government would not permit certain parties to seize the people’s wealth to enrich themselves and their groups.
“We must not be defeated by those who wish to take the people’s wealth, carry it to another country, and keep the Indonesian nation and people in a weakened state. I am grateful, and I am thankful that on this good evening, I continue to receive lessons, warnings, and renewed spirit,” Prabowo added.
On the same occasion, President Prabowo also called on all segments of society, including religious leaders, to unite and work together to realise a prosperous and secure Indonesian people.
“Let us unite, let us work hard, let us secure and save all our people. I ask for your continued prayers and support. We will succeed, we will triumph, we will overcome all difficulties. We will eradicate those who have thus far damaged our economy. We will confront them, and we will uphold truth and justice,” Prabowo concluded.
