Bandung — The Islamic Union (Persatuan Ummat Islam, PUI) has called for strengthening Islamic outreach and the role of Islamic scholars during the 1447 Hijriah Nuzulul Qur’an commemoration. The organisation has reiterated its commitment to establishing the Qur’an as a comprehensive life guide.

“The 1447 Hijriah Nuzulul Qur’an commemoration represents an important moment for the Islamic community to reaffirm their commitment to making the Qur’an the guide for their lives,” said Prof Achmad Tjachja, advisor to the PUI central board, on Friday (13 March 2026).

He noted that the event commemorating the first revelation to Prophet Muhammad serves as a symbolic moment marking the birth of Islamic civilisation, which upholds knowledge, virtue, truth, and justice. The Nuzulul Qur’an observance should be understood as an impetus for Muslims to deepen their connection with the Qur’an and adopt it as a life guide.

“The Qur’an must be continuously studied, whether through reading, understanding, or practising the values contained within it,” he said.

Prof Tjachja stated that the Qur’an extends far beyond religious guidance alone. It provides direction in social life, education, and the broader development of civilisation.

“The Nuzulul Qur’an commemoration should strengthen the awareness of the Islamic community that the Qur’an is a source of values and inspiration in building a civilised, knowledgeable, truthful, and just life,” he concluded.
