Nuzulul Quran: A Momentum to Strengthen Faith and Expand Quran Mushaf Endowments
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The Mayor of Medan, Rico Tri Putra Waas, emphasised that the Nuzulul Quran commemorations represent a strategic moment for Muslims to enhance the quality of their faith and piety. He made the remarks during the Nuzulul Quran commemorative event organised by the Medan City Government (Pemkot Medan) on Sunday (2026).
“Nuzulul Quran is a momentum to strengthen faith,” he said before the congregation. He explained that the first revelation to Prophet Muhammad SAW contained a command to read. From that fundamental message, humanity is urged to continually seek knowledge and understand the essence of life through the guidance contained in the Al Quran.
Therefore, he urged Muslims to fill the holy month of Ramadan by increasing tilawah, understanding its meaning, and applying the contents of the sacred book.
“Through the Al Quran, there are many messages we can learn, both about religion, social life, and the life values that guide humanity,” he said.
Waas hopes the Nuzulul Quran commemoration can bring Medan residents closer to Allah SWT and make the Al Quran a guide in every aspect of life. “Let us make this moment so that the people of Medan become Qurani individuals, constantly reading, understanding, and applying the contents of the Al Quran,” he added.
At the same occasion, Ustaz Muhammad Hafiz Salim reminded people to emulate the morals of the Prophet Muhammad SAW. He stressed that the Prophet is the best exemplar in worship, dealing with others, and conduct. “If we love and make the Al Quran the guide of our lives, then the heart will be calmer and our lives more directed,” he said.
The same spirit was also evident in Bogor Regency. The Nuzulul Quran commemorations there featured the distribution of thousands of mushaf Al Quran to mosques. The event, held at Masjid Besar Baitul Faizin, Cibinong, from Saturday night to early Sunday morning, was linked with a tabligh akbar titled “Penyejuk Hati” (Heart Soother).
Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto stated that this moment is an important means to strengthen ukhuwah Islamiyah and unity. “The Nuzulul Quran momentum for the Bogor Regency government is very meaningful to strengthen our Islamic solidarity and inviting all people to maintain harmony,” he said.
On that occasion, the Bogor Regency Government distributed 4,000 mushaf Al Quran to be distributed to mosques across districts. In addition, the Bogor Police (Polres Bogor) distributed 2,000 mushaf as endowments. Rudy emphasised that this distribution is a display of the local government and security forces’ concern in supporting religious activities in society.
He also praised the public’s enthusiasm, who filled the mosques late into the night. “Alhamdulillah the people are very enthusiastic. The mosques were full, and people stayed until the event ended, even though it finished around 00:00 WIB,” he said.
