Jambi City (ANTARA) - The Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme in Jambi has reached 446,087 beneficiaries, ranging from children under five (toddlers), breastfeeding mothers, to primary and secondary school pupils spread across 11 regencies and cities in the region. “This nutritious meal programme has already brought about many changes, not only targeting improvements in community nutrition but also proven to significantly reduce unemployment figures,” said Deputy Head of MBG Sony Sanjaya in Jambi City on Saturday. During a coordination meeting with partners, foundations, nutrition and finance oversight teams, and cooks in Jambi, Sony revealed that from the 205 operational Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) in Jambi, a total of 9,635 workers have been absorbed. Based on the calculation that one worker receives an average wage of Rp100,000 per day, the total budget allocated for worker remuneration reaches approximately Rp963.5 million every day. Not only impacting the employment sector, the MBG programme has also reached hundreds of thousands of beneficiaries. This achievement affirms that MBG plays a strong role as a driver of the local economy through the creation of new jobs in the area. “To date, a total of 446,087 people in Jambi have benefited from the programme, from toddlers, pregnant women, to students,” he stated.
