Nutritious Food and Regular Exercise Are Key to Boosting Immunity
Jakarta (ANTARA) – The adoption of a healthy and nutritious eating pattern along with regular exercise is the key to boosting the body’s immunity, according to a researcher. Lead researcher of HDI Propoelix™ Dr. H. Harli Amir Mahmudji, Sp.PD-KEMD, told reporters at a press conference presenting the results of a clinical trial of the Propoelix supplement in Central Jakarta on Saturday, 7 March, emphasising the importance of adopting a balanced, nutritious diet in efforts to bolster immune strength. ‘Nutritionally dense foods are individual in nature and depend greatly on each person’s condition,’ Harli said. He noted that nutritional needs can vary according to age and physical condition. Children require protein and nutrients that support growth, while adolescents and adults should adjust protein and fat intake according to metabolic needs, and the elderly require nutrients to preserve muscle mass and bone health. He added that simple physical activity such as walking or light jogging for 30 minutes a day, five days a week, is enough to strengthen the immune system. ‘Not intense exercise as performed by professional athletes, but physical activity that is consistent and within one’s capacity,’ he said. He noted that exercise can improve white blood cell responses to acute infections and help maintain balance of the immune system. Harli stressed that products like Propoelix™ only function as a complementary therapy or adjuvant, not a replacement for a healthy lifestyle. He argued that the supplement can support the readiness of white blood cells to face acute infections. A 30-day clinical trial among office workers showed that administering the supplement could enhance acute-phase white blood cell profiles without increasing inflammation.
