Febiona Purba (16), a student who was a victim of Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) poisoning, is alleged to have suffered memory loss in Karo Regency, North Sumatra. The Head of the Medan Nutrition Fulfilment Office (KPPG), Donal Simanjuntak, has addressed the situation.

Donal stated that while Febiona was being treated at RSU Haji Medan, the victim’s parents had expressed concerns regarding her memory. However, Febiona was subsequently able to communicate effectively until her discharge from the hospital.

“To our knowledge, while accompanying the individual at Haji Hospital during visits, the parents did mention this. However, our accompanying team reported that her condition, monitored daily until her return to Karo, allowed her to communicate well and recount her experiences,” said Donal Simanjuntak to detikSumut on Wednesday (9/9/2026).

His office met with Febiona again at RSUP Adam Malik Medan yesterday. Donal noted that Febiona recognised them clearly.

“When we met again on 8 September at Adam Malik Hospital, she still recognised us and we were able to converse well,” he added.

Donal noted that his office continues to monitor the victim’s condition. The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Sudaryono, is also reportedly keeping a close watch on the student’s health.
