Nusron targets restoration of 2,000 land certificates in Aceh Tamiang by December

Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Nusron Wahid is targeting the restoration of more than 2,000 land certificates belonging to residents of Aceh Tamiang Regency that were damaged or lost due to flash floods by the end of December 2026. “I request that everything be completed by the end of December,” Nusron said in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday. Nusron stated that a total of 2,000 land certificates in Aceh Tamiang Regency must be restored after being lost or damaged as a result of the 2025 Sumatra floods and landslides. According to him, accelerating the restoration of certificates is a crucial step to maintain legal certainty over community land rights while reducing the potential for disputes in the future. “The next stage is the issuance of replacement certificates. In Aceh Tamiang, the number of certificates that must be restored is targeted at around 2,000. As of today, only about 120 have been completed,” he said. As a form of realising this acceleration, Minister Nusron handed over nine replacement certificates to community members who were victims of the disaster. The certificate replacement process continues with the assistance of various stakeholders so that residents can once again hold proof of their land ownership. This effort is also accompanied by the acceleration of digital transformation through the implementation of Electronic Certificates to ensure that land data remains protected in the event of a disaster. “If the land has been certified electronically, it can remain safe even if a disaster strikes. Because all data is already stored in the Computerised Land Office (KKP) system. So, even if the physical document is lost, the data on community land rights can still be traced,” he said. In addition to certificate restoration, the Ministry of ATR/BPN together with the Aceh Tamiang Regency Government is also continuing to coordinate in supporting the construction of permanent housing for affected residents. Coordination is also being carried out to resolve various land issues as part of the post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction process in the region.
