Nusron Reveals Prabowo's Message: Land Restructuring to Eliminate Economic Inequality

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Nusron Wahid has revealed a message from President Prabowo Subianto to him before his inauguration as minister, urging land distribution restructuring to create justice and economic equity.

Nusron conveyed this during a public lecture at Wahid Hasyim University (Unwahas) on Saturday (2/5/2026).

“Before my inauguration, I was called by the President to create a land distribution restructuring that prioritises justice, equity, and economic sustainability. Those three words are the key,” said Nusron in front of lecturers and students attending the public lecture.

According to Nusron, land distribution restructuring is crucial because land ownership disparities persist in Indonesia to this day.

He noted that most land is still controlled by certain groups, so public access to this economic resource remains uneven.

“How can someone escape poverty if they lack the most basic access, namely land,” he explained.

Nevertheless, Nusron emphasised that government policy is not only focused on equity but also on economic sustainability.

Therefore, the government is said not to stifle large business actors but to still provide space for small groups to develop.

“Justice alone is not enough, equity alone is not enough, if there is no economic sustainability. The small must become big, and those without access must be given opportunities,” he stressed.
