Nusron Appears at DPR Meeting After Two Consecutive Absences

The Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN), Nusron Wahid, finally attended a meeting at the House of Representatives (DPR RI) after being absent for two consecutive sessions.

During the meeting, which focused on the Level I approval of the Agrarian Reform Bill, he was personally welcomed by the Meeting Chair and Deputy Speaker of the House, Sufmi Dasco, at the start of the session. “Secondly, before the representatives from the factions present their final opinions, we would like to welcome the Minister of ATR/BPN who is present today,” said Dasco on Monday (21/9).

Nusron appeared wearing a white shirt and a black songkok. He sat alongside the Deputy Minister of the State Secretariat, Bambang Eko Suhariyanto, and the Deputy Minister of Law, Eddy Hiariej.

Previously, on Tuesday (15/9), Nusron was absent from a meeting discussing the management of regional government assets and Regional Owned Enterprise (BUMD) assets. He was represented by the Deputy Minister of ATR/BPN, Ossy Dermawan. That meeting was attended by several governors and the Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian.

Furthermore, during a meeting on Wednesday (16/9) regarding the determination and adjustment of the 2027 K/L RKA (Ministry/Agency Work Plan and Budget) following discussions by the DPR RI Budget Committee, Nusron was again absent and represented by Ossy.

Following the meeting, Ossy stated that his attendance was a direct assignment from Nusron, noting that the Minister had other commitments, though he did not specify what those were.

Nusron had previously appeared in public on Friday (18/9), where he addressed the recent sting operation (OTT) regarding alleged bribery within the Ministry of ATR/BPN. He stated that his ministry would comply with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) regulations regarding the case.

Nusron also explained that he respects the process being conducted by the KPK and is prepared to follow and assist in the proceedings. He noted that all authority in the investigation process lies with the law enforcement agencies, specifically the KPK. Therefore, he suggested that developments in the case should await the official results of the KPK’s investigation.

“I hope that through this incident, there will be an accelerated process of service improvement within the internal land offices. That is my hope,” he said.
