Nusantara Authority Invites Public to Leave a Green Footprint in IKN
Penajam Paser Utara - The Nusantara Capital Authority (Otorita IKN) is inviting the public to leave a green footprint by planting trees while holidaying at the Miniature Tropical Rainforest (MHHT) in the Core Government Centre Area (KIPP) of IKN, Sepaku Subdistrict, Penajam Paser Utara, East Kalimantan.
“Members of the public holidaying in IKN and planting trees at the MHHT KIPP IKN,” said Troy Pantouw, Spokesperson for the Otorita IKN and Special Staff to the Head of Otorita IKN for Public Communications, when asked about tourism activities in the IKN area in Sepaku, Penajam Paser Utara, on Friday.
He stated that the programme is part of visitor services during the long holiday period from 3-5 April 2026, coinciding with the Easter break.
The activity can be joined for free, with registration open via the IKNOW app and a daily quota of up to 150 participants.
“Visitors, whether coming alone or with family, relatives, or close colleagues, can leave a green footprint in the IKN area,” he explained.
The Otorita IKN, he said, is providing a closer experience between the public and IKN, while encouraging greater environmental awareness and the concept of area development that prioritises sustainability.
Thus, visitors not only observe IKN’s progress but can also contribute directly to the ongoing process, he added.
“A simple activity like planting trees becomes part of an experience that connects visits with environmental care,” he further stated.
Registered participants should arrive at the gathering point at the rest area no later than 08:00 WITA, after which they will be transported together by bus to the activity site at the MHHT KIPP IKN.
Participants in the tree-planting activity are also reminded to prepare themselves beforehand, including maintaining physical condition and bringing necessary personal equipment.
“Participants must maintain health and fitness, and bring hats, umbrellas, and personal water bottles as an effort to reduce plastic use in the IKN area,” he said.
