Nusa Mandiri University's 3+1 Internship Programme: Three Years of Study, Direct Industry Absorption

Universitas Nusa Mandiri (UNM), as a Digital Business Campus, has introduced the Internship Experience Programme (IEP) 3+1, a programme that connects academic learning with professional experience. Through the IEP, students undergo three years of lectures and one year of professional internship at partner companies.
Maruloh, Head of UNM Rawamangun Campus, said that industry experience is important for students before entering the professional world.
“Students are not enough just to understand theory in the classroom. They also need to know how the world of work operates, solve real problems, and adapt to a professional environment. IEP 3+1 is one of Universitas Nusa Mandiri’s efforts to provide that experience while students are still pursuing their education,” he said on Tuesday (25/8/2026).
According to him, a one-year internship is an opportunity for students to test and develop the competencies acquired during their studies. The experience also helps students build self-confidence and professional networks from an early stage.
“When students already have work experience before graduating, they have a clearer picture of the professional world. They can also build networking and develop competencies that match the needs of companies,” he said.
He emphasised that UNM’s IEP 3+1 is supported by more than 300 partner companies, both national and multinational in scale. Through this network, students have the opportunity to experience the work environment directly while understanding industry dynamics.
“Internship experience also provides added value for students, from expanding networks, improving competencies, understanding work culture, to recognising career opportunities earlier,” he said.
As a Digital Business Campus, UNM continues to develop education that is relevant to industry needs. IEP 3+1 is one form of that commitment by bringing together academic competence and professional experience in the student education process.
