Nus Kei's Family Hopes Stabbing Perpetrators Receive Severe Punishment
The family of Agripinus Romatora, alias Nus Kei, Chairman of the Golkar Party’s Maluku Tenggara District Executive Board, hopes that the perpetrators of the stabbing of Nus Kei will receive the harshest possible punishment.
“The entire family greatly hopes that the perpetrators will be sentenced to death; that punishment is fitting for the death of our brother,” said Nus Kei’s family member, Ginto, when contacted on Sunday (19/4) evening.
All Golkar Party cadres and supporters paid their respects at the funeral home of Nus Kei in the Karang Tagepe area behind the old Dargon Ohoijang on Sunday (19/4) evening. Several security personnel were seen guarding the location.
According to Ginto, such a severe punishment is appropriate for the perpetrators. He said the family feels devastated and bereft over Nus Kei’s death.
“We certainly feel the loss; everyone must feel sad, but this is God’s plan; after all, we are human, it is God’s decree,” he stated.
The victim’s family has handed the case over to the police.
He said the victim’s side is still awaiting confirmation of the motive that led to Nus Kei’s death, as the investigation is ongoing at the Criminal Investigation Unit.
They hope that the perpetrators, who are currently undergoing intensive examination at the Criminal Investigation Unit, will be punished in accordance with their actions.
“We hope the perpetrators are charged under articles that are balanced with their deeds,” he added.
At present, local police are still on guard at the border between Tatrean Village and Ohoi Holat Village, Kei Kecil Subdistrict, Southeast Maluku Regency. Activities in both villages remain relatively subdued.
Nus Kei (59) died at Sadsuitubun Airport on Sunday (19/4) around 12:00 WIT.
At that time, Nus Kei was aboard Lion Air flight JT880. Nus Kei landed at Karel Sadsuitubun Airport after a flight from Pattimura Airport in Ambon around 10:45 WIT.
Upon arriving at Karel Sadsuitubun Airport, Nus Kei disembarked and was briefly picked up by family. He chatted for a short while in front of the airport exit door.
A few minutes later, a man wearing a red jacket and a mask approached and immediately stabbed Nus Kei.
Nus Kei attempted to flee into the airport waiting room while his body was stabbed with a knife.
He then collapsed due to his deteriorating condition from bleeding. Airport staff who saw Nus Kei fall immediately provided assistance.
Meanwhile, Nus Kei’s brother chased and caught the perpetrator. However, his efforts failed after the perpetrator resisted and managed to escape.
The victim’s family then decided to rush Nus Kei to the hospital. In the hope that Nus Kei could be saved, around 11:10 WIT.
Nus Kei received medical treatment but his life could not be saved after suffering bleeding and wounds to vital organs at 11:44 WIT.
Nus Kei died from four stab wounds to the right and left chest, left neck, and spine.
The Chairman of the Golkar Party’s Southeast Maluku Chapter, Nus Kei, had arrived in Southeast Maluku to attend the Golkar Party’s Southeast Maluku Congress scheduled for 22 April 2026.
