Nurdin heads Masters qualifiers

JAKARTA: Nurdin Latif of West Nusa Tenggara topped a field of 14 golfers who qualified for this year's Indonesia Masters which tees off on Monday.

The Lombok native completed the 18 holes at the Greg Norman- designed Riverside golf course near Bogor, West Java on a two- under-par 70. Nurdin was the only qualifier who bested the par 72.

There were 70 golfers, including Nurdin, seeking berths in the professional category of the Indonesia Masters in the rain- interrupted qualifying round on Tuesday.

Organizers of the four-day Masters have exempted Iin Setiawan, national amateur champion Indra Hermawan, and Suprapto and Suyanto from the qualifying round. The four national golfers will be tuning up for the Putera Cup championship next month. --JP
