Number of Stock Investors Breaches 30 Million, Here's How to Open a Securities Account & Get an SID
The Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) has recorded that the number of investors based on Single Investor Identification (SID) has surpassed 30 million as of the close of trading on Friday (7/8/2026).
Based on BEI data, the number of capital market investors reached 30,274,265 SIDs as of 7 August 2026. Throughout this year, the figure has increased by 9,926,440 SIDs, or grown 48.78% year-to-date (YtD).
Growth is also evident in the number of stock investors. As of Friday (7/8/2026), the number of stock investors had reached 10,052,059 SIDs.
This figure increased by 1,447,882 SIDs, or grew 16.83% compared to the end of 2025.
BEI Corporate Secretary Kautsar Primadi Nurahmad said that the growth in the number of investors demonstrates the widening participation of the public in the Indonesian capital market.
“This achievement reflects the broadening inclusion of the capital market in Indonesia, in line with the increasing participation of the public in investing in the capital market,” Kautsar said in a written statement on Friday (7/8/2026).
The growth in the number of investors also occurred amid increased stock trading activity on the BEI.
Trading data for the period 3-7 August 2026 shows that the majority of stock trading indicators recorded growth compared to the previous week.
Average daily transaction volume was the indicator with the largest increase. Transaction volume rose 32.98% to 39.95 billion shares from 30.04 billion shares in the previous week.
Average daily transaction frequency also increased 27.62% to 2.32 million transactions from 1.82 million transactions previously.
Meanwhile, the Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) strengthened 2.78% during the week. The IHSG closed at 6,409.654 on Friday (7/8/2026), up from 6,236.126 at the end of the previous week.
The rise in the IHSG also helped boost BEI market capitalisation.
“This data was followed by BEI market capitalisation, which increased 2.64% to Rp11,212 trillion from Rp10,923 trillion last week,” Kautsar revealed.
On the other hand, the average daily transaction value changed only slightly. Its value fell 0.38% to Rp15.38 trillion from Rp15.44 trillion in the previous week.
