Number of ship passengers departing from Tanjung Priok reaches 24,253 during Eid
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Head of the Jakarta Branch of PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Persero), Antonius Lumban Gaol, revealed that the number of ship passengers departing from Tanjung Priok Port in Jakarta reached 24,253 during the 2026 Eid transport period.
“The total number of passengers during the 2026 Eid transport period was 24,253 souls as of 28 March 2026,” Antonius said when contacted by Antara in Jakarta on Sunday.
During the 2026 Eid transport period, Antonius assured that the operations of passenger ships entering and exiting through Tanjung Priok Port proceeded relatively smoothly and on schedule.
“There were no significant disruptions, either in terms of weather or technical aspects, so the flow of passengers and logistics could be served well,” he stated.
He assured that the security situation at Tanjung Priok Port was monitored as safe and conducive during this year’s homecoming and return flows.
On the other hand, some challenges encountered included an increase in ship passenger volume at certain times, causing congestion in the port terminal area.
“However, this could be anticipated through schedule adjustments, additional personnel, and optimisation of service facilities,” Antonius said.
One factor driving the increase in Pelni ship passengers was the transportation discount programme in the form of a 30 percent reduction from the normal ticket price for the 2026 Eid period.
As of 28 March 2026, the realisation of passengers utilising the discount reached 431,705 passengers, or about 96.9 percent of the projection of 445,534 passengers for the departure period from 11 March to 5 April 2026.
