Number of Red White Village Cooperative Managers Remains Imbalanced

On Friday, 31 July 2026, 33,785 participants of the Indonesia Development Driver Undergraduate Programme (SPPI) were declared successful candidates for managers of the Red White Village Cooperatives and Red White Fishing Villages. This graduation follows the completion of a 45-day national defence and managerial training programme conducted by the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI).

The President Director of Agrinas Pangan Nusantara, Joao Angelo De Sousa Mota, stated that the graduates will be immediately deployed to cooperatives that are ready to operate. “The colleagues who have completed their training will soon be deployed to locations that are ready for operation,” said Joao during the SPPI Education Closing Ceremony at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, East Jakarta.

However, the number of prospective managers ready for duty is currently disproportionate to the available cooperative units in the field. To date, only 1,021 Red White Village Cooperatives are operational throughout Indonesia, a figure that stands in stark contrast to the 28,629 recruited prospective managers.

Addressing this imbalance, Joao explained that approximately 35,000 cooperatives are expected to be completed within the next three weeks. He noted that 18,672 cooperatives have already been constructed but are not yet operational, while an additional 3,558 cooperatives are still under construction. Joao expressed optimism that these numbers will increase significantly in the coming weeks.

A similar imbalance exists for the Red White Fishing Village managers. With 5,159 participants passing the selection, only about 100 fishing village posts have been established. Nevertheless, Febi Chadimun, Secretary of PT Agrinas Jaladri Nusantara—the State-Owned Enterprise overseeing the Red White Fishing Village programme—stated that they aim to increase the number to 1,369 locations by the end of the year, noting that all sites are currently in the construction phase.
