Number of Public Transport Passengers in Jakarta Increases in March 2026

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) for DKI Jakarta recorded year-on-year increases in the number of passengers on the Jakarta MRT, LRT, and Transjakarta in March 2026, at 9.03%, 27.10%, and 7.67% respectively. “In March 2026, the MRT Jakarta and Transjakarta transport modes showed positive year-on-year growth,” said the Head of BPS DKI Jakarta, Kadarmanto, in Jakarta on Monday. He stated that the number of MRT passengers in March 2026 was recorded at 3.49 million people, up 9.03% year-on-year, but down 3.45% from the previous month. In contrast, the number of MRT trips in March 2026 reached 7,911 trips, up 9.73% from February 2026, but down 1.89% from March 2025. For the Jakarta LRT, the number of passengers in March 2026 was recorded at 114,670 people, up 27.10% year-on-year and 11.05% month-on-month. “Meanwhile, the number of LRT Jakarta trips reached 6,324 trips, up 10.71% month-on-month and unchanged from March 2025,” said Kadarmanto. As for Transjakarta, the number of passengers in March 2026 was recorded at 32.13 million people, up 7.67%. However, it experienced a 2.27% decline from February 2026. BPS DKI recorded that the number of operational Transjakarta buses in March 2026 was 4,792 units, up 4.22% month-on-month. But it saw a 2.82% year-on-year decline.
