Number of Pelni Passengers Reaches 28,000 During Peak Mudik Flow

Today marks the peak of the mudik flow with 28,078 passengers scheduled to travel by Pelni ships, said PT Pelni’s President Director Tri Andayani in Jakarta on Wednesday. She claimed that the realisation of passengers on this Wednesday exceeds the initial projection of 27,350 passengers, an increase of about 2.7%. Meanwhile, the total number of passengers from 6 March 2026 to 18 March 2026 has reached 253,208 people, she said. According to her, this figure consists of 226,897 passenger ship passengers and 26,311 pioneer ship passengers during this year’s mudik period. She advised prospective passengers to prepare valid identification documents and arrive on time according to the departure schedule. In addition, always follow the instructions of the port officers to ensure the smooth departure process, she said. She also added that in the customer satisfaction survey conducted by Pelni from 2022 to 2025, it has consistently been in the very satisfied category. According to her, from 2022 to 2024, the Pelni Mobile app only supported digital ticket bookings. Then in 2025, they added the ‘check-in’ feature and printing of ‘e-boarding pass’. This year, online refund services are available, and ticket transfers will soon be implemented. All of this is to increase public satisfaction in using our services, she said. Meanwhile, the number of app users continues to increase from 447,127 users in 2024 to 531,485 users in 2025, an rise of about 18.9%. Transactions via Pelni Mobile have also surged significantly from just 1,484 transactions in 2022 to 679,906 transactions in 2025, an increase of more than 45,700%. This transformation proves that Pelni is increasingly facilitating public access to using Pelni ship services, she said.
